MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 25, 2014) — RJM Construction, a Minneapolis-based general contractor, has been selected by Carousel Motor Group to build a new facility for its Porsche of Minneapolis dealership. Located at 9595 Wayzata Blvd., Golden Valley, the new Porsche of Minneapolis building will be constructed on the parking lot of the existing dealership location. The dealership will remain open during construction.

At 31,000 sq. ft., Porsche of Minneapolis will be increasing its size by 18,000 sq. ft. over its existing facility. The new building will include an expanded showroom and the repair shop. Using materials that incorporate the latest Porsche brand features, the building will include an exterior metal facade, a curtain wall system and interior finishes with Porsche signature colors. Construction will begin in October 2014 and will be complete by July 2015. RJM Construction also provided pre-construction services to the project.

“Working with RJM, we looked at both remodeling and expanding the existing facility versus building a new one. Ultimately, building new allowed us to minimize the disruption to our business and gave us more flexibility with planning our new space,” said Jay Hulbert, president, Carousel Motor Group.

MINNEAPOLIS July 9, 2014 — One of Minnesota’s largest nonprofits, Be The Match®, held an official ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday, July 8 at the site of the organization’s new and expanded headquarters in Minneapolis’ North Loop Neighborhood. The project team includes developer United Properties, building architect RSP Architects, interior architect Perkins + Will and general contractor RJM Construction.

Be The Match is the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on delivering cures through bone marrow and umbilical cord blood transplantation. Over the past 25 years, the demand for transplant services has grown dramatically—the number of patients with diseases for which a bone marrow transplant can be a cure has increased, along with the types of diseases that the procedure is used treat.

The new Coordinating Center will help Be The Match meet this growing need while better serving patients, donors and health care professionals around the world.

Be The Match staff will be brought together in a single, seven-story building with approximately 240,000-square-feet. The project is the largest build-to-suit office to be undertaken in the North Loop, with Target Field, Target Field Station and Ford Center serving as major catalysts for the expansion of the area.

MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 3, 2014) Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq (CWN), through its holding company NorthMarq Companies, has acquired Commerce Real Estate Solutions, an independently owned and operated Cushman & Wakefield Alliance firm based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together CWN and Commerce employ nearly 750 employees, have annual revenues of more than $100 million, and manage more than 50 million sq. ft. of commercial real estate assets. The acquisition closed Dec. 31, 2013. Terms of the private transaction will not be disclosed.

The firms will begin to leverage the combined service platform in early 2014. “This new relationship makes both firms stronger. We will broaden the capabilities we offer clients, leverage best practices from both companies, and provide expanded opportunities for our employees,” said Jeff Eaton, president-CWN. “In addition, because both of our firms are part of the Cushman & Wakefield global organization, we are already well-aligned operationally.”

Commerce, which has offices in Utah, Nevada, Washington and Idaho, includes 250 employees, 160 of whom are licensed brokerage professionals. The firm has offices in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Park City, Provo, and St. George, Utah; Las Vegas and Reno, Nev.; Seattle and Bellevue, Wash.; and Boise, Idaho. Commerce Real Estate Solutions offers comprehensive brokerage and advisory services for landlords and tenants.

MINNEAPOLIS—Oct. 16, 2013—The Minneapolis-based nonprofit that operates Be The Match® – which connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant – today announced plans for a new headquarters building, where it will bring together staff and continue to expand its life-saving mission.
The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), one of Minnesota’s largest healthcare nonprofit organizations, has chosen a site in the North Loop neighborhood of downtown Minneapolis for construction of the seven-story building. The new building, to be developed by United Properties, will be located at 524 N. Fifth St. in Minneapolis’ North Loop district, on the current site of Shapco Printing. Construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2014, and to be completed in time for a move-in-date in late 2015.
“The number of patients with diseases for which a bone marrow transplant can be a cure is increasing, along with the types of diseases that the procedure is used treat,” said Jeffrey Chell, M.D., chief executive officer of the NMDP/Be The Match. “But more than 70 percent of patients don’t have a matching donor in their family. That’s where we come in. Our goal is to find a matching donor for every patient in need.”
Currently, the NMDP/Be The Match has more than 900 employees. The organization currently leases approximately 196,000-square-feet of office space between two buildings in Northeast Minneapolis. The new North Loop headquarters, located on a site controlled by United Properties, will provide approximately 240,000 sq. ft. of space.

“We are thrilled to be selected by the NMDP/Be The Match for this unique opportunity,” said Bill Katter, executive vice president, United Properties. “The North Loop is an exciting, growing area and now NMDP/Be The Match will be a big part of its identity.”

The building will take advantage of its unique location near downtown Minneapolis, Target Field, the North Loop light rail stop, and future home of the Interchange Transit Hub. An elevated 11,000-sq.-ft. entry plaza will be created for outdoor public events, with additional event space in the main floor lobby. The rooftop level, with views of the ballpark and downtown, will feature a fitness center, event space and an outdoor terrace. The building also will include three levels of underground parking. The nonprofit’s data center will remain in Minnetonka, and its research repository will remain in New Brighton.
