MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 25, 2014) — RJM Construction, a Minneapolis-based general contractor, has been selected by Carousel Motor Group to build a new facility for its Porsche of Minneapolis dealership. Located at 9595 Wayzata Blvd., Golden Valley, the new Porsche of Minneapolis building will be constructed on the parking lot of the existing dealership location. The dealership will remain open during construction.

At 31,000 sq. ft., Porsche of Minneapolis will be increasing its size by 18,000 sq. ft. over its existing facility. The new building will include an expanded showroom and the repair shop. Using materials that incorporate the latest Porsche brand features, the building will include an exterior metal facade, a curtain wall system and interior finishes with Porsche signature colors. Construction will begin in October 2014 and will be complete by July 2015. RJM Construction also provided pre-construction services to the project.

“Working with RJM, we looked at both remodeling and expanding the existing facility versus building a new one. Ultimately, building new allowed us to minimize the disruption to our business and gave us more flexibility with planning our new space,” said Jay Hulbert, president, Carousel Motor Group.

MINNEAPOLIS — (July 1, 2014) — Twin Cities Automotive (TCA), part of the Pohlad Companies, is adopting a new name that reflects a bit of the company’s own history: Carousel Motor Group.

“Our new name, Carousel Motor Group, is a nod to our company’s past – the purchase of Carousel Audi and Porsche in 2012 – while representing our aspirations for the future,” said Tim Kraemer, the executive who has led the branding initiative for TCA.

“We think our new name is distinctive and memorable and will allow us to go and grow anywhere – a definite plus, since our goal is to double the size of our company,” said Jay Hulbert, president. “The name Carousel Motor Group not only gives us the flexibility to expand into new geographic areas, but also into new manufacturer brands and even different vehicle categories.” (more…)

They’re big players in banking and commercial real estate. They own a jewelry store, a radio station and many other successful businesses. Heck, they even own a pro sports team.

So what’s next on the to-do list? For the Pohlad family, it’s cars. Selling lots and lots of cars.

Over the past few years, the Pohlads quickly emerged as one of the area’s biggest auto dealers, expanding to 11 stores with roughly $600 million in combined annual revenue. And they’re not done.
